Abstract: Homes inspired by architect Frank Lloyd Wright usually sell for a lot of money, but not this one.

The home was initially listed for $265,000 by Shaun Olejniczak of Realty Executives Integrity.

In December, the price dropped by $10,000 and the house eventually sold for $240,000 in a cash deal.

Fans of Wright-inspired mid-century modern design who are not afraid of a project should take note.

Bargains can be found if you're willing to put in some effort.

This 2,107-square-foot home in Racine, Wisconsin, was designed by architect John Randall McDonald and built in 1956.

It spans two floors and has three bedrooms and 2.5 baths.

Born in Milwaukee in 1922, McDonald's career was most active in the 1950s and 1960s, with residential and commercial commissions in both Wisconsin and Florida.

Although he never worked directly with Wright, McDonald held similar ideals as he designed to the natural setting of the site and wove together natural materials.

Celebrities such as actress Maureen O'Hara and New York Yankees player Mickey Mantle have reportedly asked McDonald to design their homes.

It was a fixer-upper, and it was sold as is," Olejniczak said. We priced it accordingly."

A now-enclosed carport was the only recent update. The kitchen and bathrooms, patio and eat-in kitchen all needed improvements.

Another necessary upgrade was the removal of the pool and the addition of a new pool or increased lawn area.

There is a pleasant detail here that has been present for many years.

The home has two trees thriving, one in the foyer and the other in the atrium, and they are a testament to Wright.

Olejniczak says it looks like the two trees are original.

The window wall at the back of the house invites nature in, just as McDonald intended.

The property includes a two-car garage.
