Abstract: Jennifer Lopez has just sold her grand villa in Bel-Air for a jaw-dropping $42.5 million.

The 7.8-acre villa is located on 12,817 square feet of land in the upscale Los Angeles neighbourhood, tucked away in a gated area just minutes from the famous Bel-Air Hotel.

TMZ reports that the actress and singer listed the home, noting that she and husband Ben Affleck had originally planned to renovate the space.

The news comes just six months after the A-list celebrity couple got married in Las Vegas.

Lopez purchased the remarkable property from actress Sela Ward for $28 million in 2016.

The giant mansion is not far from The One - a sprawling estate that sold at auction last spring for a staggering $141 million.

Lopez's equally impressive nine-bedroom estate was originally designed by architect Samuel Marx and built in 1940.

Since then it has been redesigned into a "masterful, one-of-a-kind, multi-structured, French country sanctuary", the listing notes.

The home's stylish design incorporates stone, wood and other natural elements.

The expansive grounds feature a guesthouse with studio and gym, a 100-seat amphitheatre, a pagoda with fire pit, an outdoor entertaining area with full kitchen, and a second guest cottage.

The property even has a private lake, beach and outdoor shower for those seeking the ultimate in privacy.

The two-storey living room has a soaring ceiling, bar, stone fireplace, and curved staircase with wrought iron railings.

The chef's kitchen has a breakfast nook, stone fireplace, wood-beamed ceilings and huge windows. An adjoining family room leads to the private backyard where there is an infinity pool.

The master suite is its own wing and boasts a library with sitting room, fireplace and double dressing room.

All bedrooms have balconies, perfect for enjoying the tranquil views.

The first floor includes a massage room and a guest room.

The ground floor has a 30-seat screening room with posters of several actors' films - including El Cantante, starring Lopez and ex-husband Marc Anthony, and Affleck's Hollywood.

The listing hints at what could happen if Lopez and Affleck choose to stay, noting that the property includes "plans for an extra room" and "plans for another structure".
